A Wide Sakiori Obi: Beautiful, Unusual Coloration
$190.00

ca. mid twentieth century
126" x 11", 320 cm x 28 cm

This is a stunning sakiori obi--a sakiori obi is a kimono sash woven from shredded, recycled cloth.

This one is beautifully colored and wonderfully wide--most striking is that swath of green/white/gold in the middle of the otherwise richly colored ground.

The condition of this obi is nearly pristine.  The chocolate brown and deep purple alternating stripes is a very rich and vibrant color combination, but the reason for admiring this obi so much--and what makes is unusual--is that anomalous chunk of bright light that shines forth from the first third of the length of this obi.

A gorgeous thing and very recommended.
