India

India's brilliant tradition of weaving and coloring cloth has roots extending back to ancient times. The country's vast size, many native cultures, and myriad foreign influences have all contributed to producing a textile culture more varied and advanced than anywhere in the world.

Śri's collection of contemporary Indian textiles is tangible proof of this epic history. We offer fine examples of uncut cloth from India's many far flung textile centers, from South India's famous cotton producing states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh to northern India's legendary Kashmir, home of luxurious wools and beautiful hand embroidery.

At Śri, our selections are hand picked for their aesthetic beauty, but as importantly, our own expertise contributes to finding cloth that best represents the weaving culture which produced it.
